Update of the latest actions of the UOC along with DXtera Institute consortium

On January 15, Mr Emili Rubió, director of Operations and Dr Antoni Pérez-Navarro, research director of the eLearn Center and representative of the UOC in DXtera, attended the Board of Directors of DXtera. DXtera is a non-profit foundation that seeks to transform the student and institutional results in higher education. We specialise in helping higher education professionals to achieve more efficient access to information and knowledge for effective decision making and cost savings in the long term, simplifying and eliminating barriers to system integration and improving aggregation and the control of data.
The UOC has been part of the DXtera consortium since January 2018 as a founding member and is the European DXtera hub. In June 2018, the UOC organised, together with DXtera, the Next Generation Student Success Symposium, which will organise again this year between May 21 and 23.
In December 2018 it was approved that the UOC would become a full member of the Board of Directors (until then, it was a member without the right to vote) and the January meeting was the first with this new role in which it participated. The meeting reviewed the achievements made throughout 2018, including the projects in which the UOC has joined, mainly the ScoreCard, which establishes the items that and evolution process, of an LMS, for instance, must achieve to opt for a tender; or the chatbot project to give feedback to the students in the evaluation process.
Apart from the board of directors, Mr Emilio Rubió met with the CIO of the University of Hawai’i (UH), which plays the same role as the UOC in the Board of Directors to exchange experiences and approaches and were able to detect various points in common between the UH and the UOC. Finally, both Mr Emilio Rubió and Dr Antoni Pérez-Navarro participated in the meetings held by the UH with DXtera in what will be the first product of a member that goes on the market.
After this meeting, it is expected that, in the future, the ties between the UOC and DXtera will strengthen for the benefit of the entire UOC community.
